Work commenced on this development during the summer of 2018, the first phase was installing the hard & soft landscaping for the Marketing Suite which involved removing existing planting and structures. Once stripped and cleared we then supplied and installed herbaceous plants, bulbs and shrubs and close by we installed a play area which included a Balancing log, Timber Stepping logs and Stepping stones.
The hard & soft landscaping installation continued around the build with the supplying and laying of over 1400m2 of vehicle and pedestrian surfaces along with installation of various kerbing. The site also required over 720m3 sub soil and 2,250m3 of top soil to be added.
For the soft landscaping 3,600m2 Ryesport turf was ordered and laid as per the job specification. The turf has a mix of 30% Perennial Ryegrass 25% Slender Creeping Red Fescue 25% Strong Creeping Red Fescue 15% Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass 5% Chewings Fescue. Additionally, over 76 trees have been planted; various species including Betula Pendula’s, Malus Sylvestris, Prunus maackii 'Amber Beauty' and Prunus x subhirtella 'Autumnalis Rosea' to name a few.
As with many new builds and landscape installations we are seeing part of the planning permission conditions include an Ecology Report on the development area. At Teddington Riverside, an Ecological Mitigation and Enhancement Scheme report by The Ecology Consultancy recommended specific measures to meet these requirements.
We are familiar with the coordination of purchasing and installing Bird & Bat boxes having installed many during the QEOP Olympic Park build. The report identified new opportunities for nesting birds so we have installed eight on the larger trees within the development.
