Installation of Hard & Soft Landscaping
We have worked with a number of blue chip building contractors on major construction projects throughout the UK. Additionally, working for clients such as Grosvenor Property & Partnership, TAG McLaren Holdings, Candy & Candy, the Canary Wharf Group and the London Legacy Development Company (LLDC) to name a few, has positioned our reputation as a company which offers professional installation of designs and delivering value in the completion of projects.
Our expertise has seen the successful completion of 20 Fenchurch Street Sky Garden in 9 week. This was a project full of complexity because of significant delivery challenges due of the nature of the location and design specification of a garden situated on the 37th floor of a skyscraper. On the Public Realm front, our involvement at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has continued since the London 2012 Games by installing the new South Park Plaza for the LLDC, which won us the coveted British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) highest award, the Grand Award in 2014. Additionally, at the Park we have installed a new Canal Park alongside the Lee Navigational Canal, the soft landscape transformation around the Olympic Stadium and the transformation of the IBC Centre now known as Here East.
We continue to be involved with the 67 acre Kings Cross Development, a major regeneration project involving 10 new public parks and squares, and also busy with a number of key schemes in and around London such as 30 Cannon St, Tate Modern, Fitzroy Place and notable private residential properties.
We have also been working on the North West Cambridge Development project, a scheme which is creating a new district and extention to the city, centred around an academic and urban community.
Ground Maintenance Services
Our Grounds Maintenance Service ensures that all landscaped and planted areas, shrubs, trees, and seasonal bedding, etc are developed, monitored and maintained to the highest standard. As with our BALI Award winning contract at the RBS Headquarters in Edinburgh Scotland, we also incorporate the cleaning of all roads, hard standings, parking areas and paths on a regular basis to suit all seasonal conditions. A high emphasis is placed on environment and social responsibilities by RBS and in order to service these requirements regular inspections are carried out by external ecologists. The estate is adjacent to the main flight path into Edinburgh airport and daily bird surveys are undertaken by us with the information being fed through to BAA operational centre. Three burns, Gogar, Ashley & Mill run through the estate and detailed water quality monitoring system has been developed with SEPA and managed by ourselves.
We are also looking after the grounds within and around the Kings Cross Development. This involves us maintaining all the current parks and roof gardens we have installed.
Water Features & Irrigation Systems
Willerby Landscapes has depth in its experience to design and install bespoke water features. We have many years’ experience in advising clients on the best ways of designing their water feature from being involved from the concept stage of a project to completion. The benefits in water feature design are accomplished by enhancing the surrounding landscape and creating the ultimate effect that parallels the local environment. Looking natural without showing how the feature works is key to a successfully installed design.
For all designed water features we can provide the design and construction, complete with all the necessary electrical controls to either operate automatically or by metering.
Additionally, we have access to the latest innovations in irrigation technology which ensures that our clients receive the best system suited to their requirements. One of the positive advantages for irrigation systems is to provide water to plants over a set period of time which aids the maturing of landscapes more quickly; It also reduces plant losses and helps plants cope with difficult conditions, especially in hostile environments such as green roofs. Modern landscape irrigation systems are also designed to minimise water wastage and can be coupled with rainwater harvesting systems to maximise their green credentials.
We were actively involved with the installation of irrigation systems in the London2012 South Park and also secured the water management of the Park prior to and during the Games. Our expertise continued to be drawn upon during the construction of the LLDC Legacy works at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, South Park, where we installed a new irrigation system within the South Park Pleasure Gardens along with a fun, state-of-the-art water feature, known as The Labyrinth.
