Liverpool ONE also known as The Paradise Street Development was a major regeneration project covering approximately 42 acres which formed the major part of the redevelopment of Liverpool City Centre.
The Paradise Street Project included the construction of over 30 individual buildings providing, 1.65 million sq. ft. of new shops, hotels, housing, leisure and other facilities. Amongst robust travel plans, new bus stations, and shopmobility strategies, a new underground car park was created to serve the development.
At the heart of the public realm development a new public park was built by Willerby Landscapes - comprising in excess of 20,000m sq of soft and hard landscaping, the park cascades over three storeys of parking, retail and internal public space. Physically forming the park as a roof garden, working within tight time frames and achieving levels of quality inherent in the design and client teams aspirations, we brought into being a dynamic and versatile, yet striking town centre urban park.
Our involvement also included the installation of the circular natural stone staircase which links the area know as the Discovery Axis and the head of the park. Accommodating a rise in level of over 11metres, the large scale stone units mask a sloped structural roof slab which sits just below the surface finishes. Additionally, we also completed the irrigation, plant room, water harvesting system and a water feature installation as part of our works.
